Our Vision
A better connected Govan.
The aim of this website it to provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ resource for people in the Govan Ward - where they will be able to find or advertise information on events, activities, volunteering and training opportunities all in the one place.
Our vision is for this resource to be used and led by everyone in the community: individuals and organisations alike.
HOW?
The website has two distinct functions, both designed to encourage organisations and individuals to better engage with each other.
Organisations can advertise their events or opportunities through submitting the appropriate form found on our events, activities, volunteering and training pages. This will allow organisations to reach a wider audience of people with their promotion, in addition to interacting with a network of other community organisations.
Individuals who work or live within the Govan Ward, can use the website to search through opportunities posted by organisations to have a better understanding of what is being provided in their area. They can do this through searching our volunteers, training and community calendar pages.
WHO?
Originally, the website was operated by Govan Volunteer Bank, an initiative launched by Govan Housing Association. However, as of March 2023, the volunteer bank was no longer in operation due to a funding decision, which negated the need to have a website dedicated to it’s function. In April of 2023, Thriving Places Govan received funding to refresh and develop the website- which you can read more about here.
WHY?
We wanted to create a resource that could be utilized by the community, pulling together the efforts of various individuals and initiatives that were interested in accomplishing the same thing.
We wanted to provide a platform that would build on the established networks throughout Govan, make promotion, advertisement and partnership easier, and enhance people’s knowledge about where they can access information about their community.
